This is what my black friend told me: Its genetics. They grow very coiled kinky hair, that is very dry and hard to manage. The hair also grows at a very slow pace. The structure of the hair have a lot of weak bends which tend to break off easily. Blacks also tend to take their hair into extreme braiding, extensions, and chemical procedures in order to tame the hair. These kinds of "aesthetic" care tend to do more harm than good. They also have grooming habits or lack thereof, such as greasing the hair and scalp, and very infrequent hair washing. They do this in order to reduce dryness and breakage. I would imagine that this regimen adds little to an already unpleasant genetic trait. They have a tendency to do that to their biracial children too. causing hair-loss and traction alopacia. Biracial children generally have very different hair from their black counterparts. Is that true? Eden, are you biracial or mixed? That could be the difference. TheoMax, Those kids are more black (genetically) than biracial. Their exude it all over their phenotype. Some recessive traits from another race way back in time, but some of the photos appears to have children with recessive traits for hair that allows the hair to be somewhat curly instead of kinky. Corso, you are welcome - my pleasure.
why do stupid people insist on asking rediculous questions such as this? this has always crossed my mind.
Well I don't think you have ever seen an afro.
If they took care of their hair they could have long natural hair like me! it looks medium length but I flat ironed it for prom and it is SO LONG like the center of my back long! ^_^ edit: my dad is bi-racial (black and white) and my mom is just black but she has long natural hair too! being bi-racial doesn't mean anything though I'm still Black
thanks
Perhaps the people over in one of the Health or Beauty categories would be more helpful for you. Maybe ask about White women bleaching the crap out of their hair while you are there.
To give small -minded people like you something to talk about.
Your 1 black friend probably didn't say all that. Alopecia is genetic, nothing causes it but jeans. Black people's hair is short because the African climate is hot and dry. Same reason why Europeans are as hairy as bigfoot, to keep them warm during the cold months.
Nope, our hair grows rapidly but it being so coiled makes it look short, a black woman with kinky hair that is shoulder lentgh, if she straightens her hair, it will most likely be down her mid-back(longer than many white girl's hair) Our hair isn't weak, but delicate, it isn't hard to manage if you find the right stuff to use. Black people have the most delicate soft hair than any other race. No biracial(black) children have curly hair as well, some are even just as kinky as black people and the same accounts for their hair, it's just some of them have more loose curls, but again the curlier your hair the shorter it appears it really isn't that short
alot of this is true, but also not all black people have little hair on their heads. I am black and people have commented on my hair saying one half of my hair is another person full head of hair and my hair is long. So making this generalization, was a little wrong and some people could be offended by the title of your question.
LOL i can't believe you typed all that made up shyt all up.
what....are you writing a wikipedia page?
ARE YOU FUCKIN STUPID
Wrong; my dreads are long
As I said in another question, I have hair down to my bottom. And I think the actual HAIRS on our heads (of Black people) doesn't differ very much from other groups of people. Why on earth would any of this matter to you?
I'm black and I have a lot of hair and its very very long and thick. But i dont think I would have it if I put all those perms in my hair like many AA girls do. It causes so much hair loss.
I know Carla is a biracial girl who is lost in her world. All her post are her hatred for Black people. I'm from West Africa and i have a shoulder length hair. I haven't relaxed it.
link doesn't refer to biracial children Most Biracial people i see have curly hair which looks more similar to Black people hair more than White peoples hair
i highly doubt you have any black friends
LMFAO @ DM's answer. I left this yahoo answer for 2 month because of school, and I come back and this kind of foolishness is still going on...wow.
