Talking Pedometer?

Today, at the shopping center, I was approached by a woman promoting a particular fitness equipment. To my surprise, the user just had to stand or sit on it, while it oscilated and vibrated at a controlled speed. I just tried this equipment working at a speed of 10 (I didn't observe the units), and it felt practically like a massage. Very relaxing and pleasurable. The assistant even said that was good for the blood stream. The maximum speed that the equipment allowed was 80. And according to the assistant, when you are standing, the oscillations and vibrations have more effects on your legs; if you sit down, it has more effects on your belly... I think that in its catalogue, there were still some other positions that you could assume. So, and unlike other fitness equipments, such as treadmills or static bycicles, in which you have to make sacrifices if you are willing to obtain the results you wish, with this new equipment you can alledgedly lose calories while you 'receive a massage'. But my question is: will this really work?... The assistant said that she has been using this equipment and she's more satisfied with it than any other equipment, such as treadmills or static bycicles, but she's certainly biased, not only because she was a saleswoman, but also because she was overweight, even though she said she was more before starting to use this equipment. Also, according to the assistant, they sold 150 of these equipments in a week... And she even showed me an order from a client who lives in London... Its price was 500 Euros, which I think it's about average for an equipment of its standard. I liked the massage... But if I could burn calories with it as well, that would be icing on the cake...

If it sounds to good to be true..... It probably is :) that's not to say vibra-plates may help loose a few calories however nothing will replace raising you heart-rate in good old cardio on treadmills or static bikes . Vibra-plates are the new Fad with celebs buying £5000 machines. Ever seen the old videos of those vibrating belts on womens hips in the 50s & 60s, that's all these pieces of equipment are, just re-designed. Its not my place too say whether it would be a good idea to buy it but if this tech was so revolutionary that it burns so many calories with people just standing there.. why aren't doctors recommending them :P heres an interesting article on the vibration plates, hope all this helped and good luck :)
